The prehistoric reptiles that disappeared in the rest of the planet managed to survive in the Country of the Eternal Clouds. Natural selection made them evolve and some winged species were finally domesticated by the inhabitants of the zone.

The flying dragons are now the usual mean of transport in the country, the equivalent to horses in the contemporary medieval Europe. These dragons are animals of hollow bones, with powerful musculature and a weightless complexion as birds have. Their wings are wide enough for them to fly high and also glide if necessary. Sometimes, these docile and often loyal dragons, do fly extremely long distances and save then the pilot's life. The mount needs three reins to be ridden in the three-dimensional space they are moving through.

Although the citizens in the country firmly believe that there exists nothing -apart from a certain death- below the thick layer of clouds, it is undeniable that these flying reptiles have been seen in different locations around planet Earth. It is regarded as certain that the impact of these appearances have derived into several myths and popular legends, from oriental dragons to Saint George.

There are different species of tamed dragons, each having its own features. This is why the Mercenary's mount has changed it appearance right through the different adventures in the series.

When the Mercenary joins the Crater order, he adopts the usual mount in the Monastery. It is an aerodynamic dragon, ready to fly long distances and reach different heights. The animal is also used as a kind of store, since they use to place food, weapons and water in the saddle.
